What Real Self Esteem Looks Like

Picture
I am all about female empowerment. It's crazy, when I watch a lot of the female celebrities that we all follow, as well as observe us everyday folk, it seems that more of us struggle with having a healthy sense of self esteem than not. I feel that it is important to really love who you are and who you are becoming! I recognize that self esteem starts from when we are little. For us ladies, our fathers were the first ones to teach us how we should be loved, how beautiful we are (inside and out), how precious we are, and how our future husbands should treat us. Unfortunately, many women have not received this message from their fathers. I truly thank and praise God everyday for blessing me with a father who told and showed me how precious and valuable I was. I believe that because I knew my worth I ended up marrying the type of man that I did (someone like my father). My husband treats me like the queen that I am because he too knows my worth and value.

We all have our days when we have bouts with insecurity. However, it is important for us to love and embrace who God made us to be (this is my mantra). When we know and realize our worth, we are able to love ourselves, love and appreciate the similarities and differences in others, compliment other women, cheer other women on even when we are not where we want to be, advocate accordingly for ourselves, and be comfortable in our own skin! Self esteem is a powerful thing! It sets the pre-cursor for who we allow in our lives. It affects our "picker" of men and friends! It can also affect how we raise our children......especially our daughters! Having a healthy sense of self esteem can also help us to acknowledge our mistakes! I encourage all of us to take the time to work on our self esteem and truly know our worth!
