Welcome back to another segment of SEX AND THE CITY THURSDAYS!!! Today's clip captures a pivotal argument between Carrie and Miranda. While shopping, they end up getting into a fight regarding Carrie agreeing to meet up with her ex love Mr. Big! Now if I am being completely HONEST, I play the role of Miranda in this argument. I am the type of friend who will TELL YOU THE TRUTH even when you do not want to hear it. My delivery would be a bit different (not as harsh) but I would still let you know my full opinion lol. Over the years I have learned to refrain from giving my opinion unless I am asked for it! This way, we can avoid such disagreements lol! I can get Carrie's perspective in this situation as well. No one wants a JUDGMENTAL friend!! I try to be honest in a NON JUDGMENTAL WAY!! I ultimately respect the fact that they were not SCARED to go there with one another and really express their concerns!!
Which perspective resonates with you?
Are you and your friends HONEST with one another regarding your concerns with each other?
There are times in my life where I was able to CONNECT THE DOTS as to why a particular thing happened. But there are DEFINITELY others times in my life where I can't figure out for the life of me what the reason was behind something happening to me or those around me!!! I know that God allows things to happen to us for his OWN reasons! But, the HUMAN side of me always wants to know WHY!!!!!!!!! I feel that way with my whole career issue!! I remember feeling this way about past heart breaks! I just have to keep on trusting him!!!! Because at the end of the day, he has not steered me wrong when I submitted to his will!!!
Can you relate to this thought?
This movie trailer INTRIGUES me!! I have got to see this movie!! It originates from a book that I heard was AMAZING!! I probably should read the book first lol!!! But, I will be dragging my husband to the movie theater to see this on October 7th!!! I LIVE for psychological thrillers!!!
Have you read the book?
Will you go see this movie?
This weekend I was reminded of the POWER OF FAMILY and the IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY!!! I come from a small family and have seen how God has ADDED and continues to ADD to our family!! I am really EXCITED about this!!! I had the pleasure of spending time with my family all weekend and took a brief moment to celebrate the fact that my immediate family relationships are SOLID, STRONG, and IN TACT!! We RIDE out for one another through the THICK and THIN! Sometimes I have to remind myself that family is to be a PRIORITY and how they can become your BEST FRIENDS!!! I look forward to this NEW chapter in our family and all of the blessings that will come with it! NO I AM NOT PREGNANT LOL!!!! But there are other AMAZING things happening that will bring about an INCREASE!!!
Let us all remember how IMPORTANT it is to have SANE and EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY family members in our lives to LOVE ON and to BE THERE for!!!!!
What are your thoughts?
Happy Sex and The City Thursday!!!!!! In this clip Carrie and Big have been dating and Carrie believed them to be monogamous with one another. However, Big had a DIFFERENT perspective!! This clip reminded me of my single days when I was dating and would be under the impression that I was in a mutual monogamous situation when he was out here running the streets with several women!!!!!!! I DEFINITELY know how this feels!! I have experienced women calling my phone on more than one occasion informing me that they were the girlfriend of the guy who I was seeing!!
I think that it is VERY IMPORTANT to have the conversation EARLY on when you meet someone; to discuss if you are exclusively dating/getting to know one another or casually dating where both of you can see other people!!! It doesn't feel good to get caught out there and have the rug pulled from under you! I would have reacted the same way as Carrie when she ran into Big on an actual DATE with another woman!!!
Has monogamy become too much to expect?
I have learned over the years that it is VERY IMPORTANT to live a BALANCED life! I recognize that there are so many factors in our lives that pull us in MANY DIRECTIONS; but it is important to work towards balancing these areas!! I think that carving out places for the things that are MOST IMPORTANT can be a good place to start. For me, God, my husband, myself, my immediate family, income, passions, and a few friends is where I start. Now the first four things that I listed take precedence! I truly believe that even GOD calls us to have a balanced life!
I am also glad that I learned how to say NO to people and things that affect my sanity and peace of mind! If our lives are unbalanced we end up cutting ourselves short and perhaps missing out on some AMAZING BLESSINGS!! I feel that it is easy for us to let FEAR keep us from being balanced! Or sometimes we are ok with limiting ourselves to always working more hours then necessary, feeling that we have to be in church or apart of endeavors at our church all of the time, or only spending time with our significant other because they have become COMFORT ZONES for us! I find that I am HAPPIER and more FULFILLED when my life is BALANCED! I love making time for the important areas in my life that will ONLY HELP ME TO BE A STRONGER AND MORE BALANCED PERSON! Similar to the image above there are many areas of our lives that require our attention. I understand that it can be very EASY to dedicate less time to the important things like personal development, fun, health, spiritual development, and many other factors listed above! I say this because I am at times guilty of this as well!! I encourage us all to strive to live a more balanced life!
What are your thoughts? Would you say the you live a life of balance? Do you struggle in this area?
I literally STUMBLED on this video clip which was MOVING!! I know that there are a lot of people suffering from DEPRESSION and are having a hard time seeing their way out of it!! But if we would just GRAB HOLD OF GOD!!!! Depression is REAL and can lead to suicide if it goes untreated for a long period of time!! This young lady faced a lot of LOSS in her life which is what lead to her depression. Please do not take this lightly!! Thankfully she turned to God for healing and strength!
So many people are going through TOUGH times right now and I just wanted to take some time to send some ENCOURAGEMENT, LOVE, and LIGHT your way!! I believe that God allows us to go through some ROUGH STUFF to STRENGTHEN us in the end!!! I have to remind myself a lot of times that God knows me BETTER than I know myself! He truly knows what is BEST for you and I!!! He also knows what he is preparing us for and what skills and strength we will need in the end!!
Hey everyone!! Check out the music that I have had on HEAVY ROTATION lately!!!!!!!!!
Are any of these songs your favorites?
