Birthday Behavior Part 1!!!!!!!!!

Picture
My amazing husband took me out to ONE OF MY FAVORITE RESTAURANTS..........The Cheesecake Factory last night to celebrate part 1 of my birthday!!!!!!! I am an AVID cheesecake eater and I enjoy the cuisine at this restaurant! I had a lovely and intimate birthday dinner with my husband! I would not have had it ANY OTHER WAY!! It was a night of firsts......as for what I ordered.  As an appetizer we had the egg roll sampler platter and It was pretty good! For my main course, I ordered the steak tacos which were also pretty satisfying. I was so full after eating the appetizer that I barely even ate my main course meal! I then ordered the new Chocolate Hazelnut cheesecake which I will partake in later on!

There is nothing like GREAT CONVERSATION with MY BETTER HALF and GREAT CUISINE to kick off my birthday celebration!! Now on to Phase 2 of my birthday celebration.........THE OFFICIAL TURN UP! I will definitely keep you posted lol!!!

Can Men and Women Really Just Be Friends?

I like to open the floor to the level of conversation that most of us do not wish to have with ourselves or anyone else. I found this clip to be very interesting as Steve Harvey, in my opinion, makes some valid points. I must admit that I have always questioned whether men and women could really "just be friends" especially in adulthood. I think that it can easily become a slippery slope because someone will always want more than a platonic friendship deep down inside.  For me.......my husband, the family that I acquired on his side, brother, cousins, and father are all the male "friends" that I need. They can provide me with the male advice and interaction without me putting myself in a compromising situation. That devil is always waiting to sew seeds of deceit and temptation. As a married woman, I prefer to not engage in friendships with the opposite sex as my husband ultimately FILLS THAT PLACE of not only male companionship but also FRIENDSHIP. Now as I always say, my perspective is not bible it is just my opinion. I am not bashing or judging those who disagree with this viewpoint. I think that it is an IMPORTANT and INTERESTING conversation to be had!

What are your thoughts on this UBER CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC? Do you agree or disagree with Steve Harvey's perspective?

6 Danger Signs Of Emotional Spending........

Picture
I recently read an interesting article on the six danger signs of emotional spending. Some people ventilate their stress by overeating, drinking (alcoholic beverages that is), getting high, and shopping. If overspending is your weakness it can be VERY EASY to shop when you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed! I cannot lie.......I have been guilty of this very thing!!!!  Lets take a look at the six danger signs:
  1. Seeking Immediate Gratification: When stress levels run high and you're feeling anxious, restless, or irritable it can be easy to seek pleasure or satisfaction just to escape those negative feelings. Shopping can temporarily fill this need. Once you head home and the shopping high has warn off, you may then find yourself having a case of shopper's remorse. Instead of making an irrational buying decision in the heat of the moment, give yourself a week or two to think about the purchase so that you can review your budget.
  2. Justifying The Purchase With "I Deserve It": Telling yourself that you deserve to splurge on something may be a sign that you need to give your self esteem a boost. Spending money is one way to take care of yourself, but the need to spend may be rooted in emotions. If you don't address the emotions or feelings of lack in your life, you could be setting yourself up for a round of emotional spending.
  3. Spending Because Of Financial Woes: If you have just received some bad financial news or are struggling to keep your budget in order, you might spend more money than planned to avoid the situation only to make your financial matters worse. Whether you turn to credit cards or cash to fuel your shopping spree, coping with financial distress by spending is a surefire sign that emotions need to be addressed first. Take sometime to review your budget and financial standing, determine what you actually need to buy and consider whether you can afford to splurge before you head out of the door or click the checkout button.
  4. Shopping To Decompress From Stress: Some people turn to food or alcohol during stressful times; emotional spenders go shopping. If you are dealing with several stress-filled days or recovering from a stressful life event, steer clear of the mall and online stores so that you can cope with the situation in a healthier way. You need to make clear-headed decisions during stressful times, and shopping will only cause an escape. Call a supportive friend, go to the gym, or take a relaxing bath to decompress from stress without serious financial ramifications.
  5. Competing With Friends, Family Members, Or Co-Workers: When buying new things or collecting high-end items to outdo other people becomes a part of your lifestyle, you may be on a perpetual shopping high in an effort to feel powerful. Striving to always have the best of the best and making an effort to show off your recent acquisitions to friends, family members, and co-workers is a sign that your spending habits are fueled by emotions and not necessarily based on need. When you're trying to maintain a certain image and always seem to have the urge to splurge, take a step back and consider what is really fueling that desire to spend.
  6. Buying And Returning More Items Than You Keep: For an emotional spender buying and returning several items at a time is a way to exercise some damage control, but it still perpetuates the shopping cycle. While you may not end up paying for the items you pick up on that next shopping haul, you will have spent a significant amount of time engaged in the shopping process to escape from emotions and feelings. If you end up missing the return policy date or pay restocking fees, your spending sprees could end up costing you both time and money.
I don't know about you but I am DEFINITELY GUILTY of some of these warning signs!! I now will make more of an effort to assess my emotional state of mind before I go shopping. They do not call it RETAIL THERAPY for no reason!!!

Are you an emotional spender at times?

It's Far Better To Be An Innovator!!!!!

Picture
I sincerely and whole heartedly believe this thought to be true!! A lot of times in my life I have observed how easy it is for us as people to copy or imitate what someone else is doing, because we want to receive the same desired response or attention. I have also experienced this being done to me on more occasions that I would have liked lol!! I think that being creative and innovative is a great skill to have! I believe that when we are being true to ourselves no one can duplicate the authenticity of how we are expressing ourselves (which could be through your craft, talents, etc). I will admit that it is slightly FLATTERING....... but can also be FRUSTRATING when you have put a tremendous amount of effort, work, and thought into what you are doing for someone to come along and imitate it. Now please do not get me wrong, I recognize that we are ALL INSPIRED by others. However, lets use the inspiration to motivate us to be innovative and true to our own aesthetic instead of being carbon copies. We all have something valuable to offer this world!! There is room for everyone!! Let your own ORIGINALITY SHINE!!!

One Of My Favorite Choreographers Ever.......Monica Wilson (Xoticy)!!!!!!!!!!

Picture
I stumbled upon this AMAZING choreographer around 2011 and have been a fan ever since!!  Monica Wilson specializes in sexy dances and floor routines! I lOVE what her movement represents. She is about empowering women to tap into their inner sexy and be confident in themselves!! I dragged my bestie to one of her dance class experiences when she came to New York in May of 2015. We had a BALL!! Now I will say that I catch on to choreography rather fast.....but her moves were a bit challenging which I liked!! I will definitely sign up for the next class that she does in New York City!! She tours around the country teaching her specialized floor techniques and empowering women!! I love how DOPE and DOWN TO EARTH she is!!

Hmmmmmmm............

Picture
This is a great rhetorical question! What I love about the intent of this question is the underlying point that we live in a world where everything is visual. Most of us (including me) often take selfies of ourselves daily and are showcasing our physical attributes more than our hearts, characters, and INNER BEAUTY! Perhaps most of us would not impress anyone if the world was blind!!

Say It Again!!!!!!!!!

Picture
I LOVE, LOVE, and LOVE this! If we only knew what could happen if we as women all came together!! This world would be a BETTER place! I enjoy little reminders like this because it is easy for us to bicker, fuss, and fight with one another instead of BANNING TOGETHER (as I have expressed in an audio recording). The way this world is going, we mine as well give this idea a shot!  At this point, we have nothing to lose! I believe that women have the power to change lives (in addition to assisting with giving life)!

Lets make more of an effort to live by this idea ladies!! Who is with me?
