This has been a reoccurring thought that has come up in conversation, in a book that I am currently reading, and on television for the last week. I just knew that I had to write a blog about it!!! Often times, it can be very easy to want to do what everyone else is doing.....especially when they seem to be reaping amazing benefits and blessings in their lives!!! I must admit that in this world of blogging....it seems that everyone uses the same FORMULA to gain more followers which actually works for most. But for some reason, it never felt right IN MY SOUL to follow the masses and how THEY DO THINGS!! I probably have the LEAST following EVER in the blogging world. However, I can sleep at night knowing that I am blogging in a way that is AUTHENTIC TO WHO I AM. My path and journey is that of a different direction, lane, and purpose!! Don't get me wrong.....the HUMAN SIDE of me definitely understands why it is easy to FOLLOW THE MASSES and why many often do!!!
I recently encountered adult siblings who feel that it is important to follow the same blueprint that the oldest sibling set. I recognize that culture often plays a big part in this idea and plight. However, I shared in conversation that we all have our own paths, purposes, and gifts in life that require that we take different directions......and that is ABSOLUTELY OK!!! My ideal may be FOREIGN to some......but I SWEAR and LIVE BY IT!!!! As I always say.....instead of us FOCUSING ON WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING....lets put that same time and energy on discovering and developing what we have to offer the world!!!!
I encourage us all to remind ourselves that we do not have to do what EVERYONE ELSE is doing!!!!!
I welcome your feedback!!!!
Happy Friday y'all!!!! This week I have been crushing on my MAC Ruby Woo lipstick and Charlemagne's book entitled Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes To Those Who Create It!! We will first discuss why this red lip is EVERYTHING and MORE to me LOL!!!!! I like to use lipsticks as an accessory to my outfits when I am in the mood to take things up a notch!! My go to lipstick color is MAC Ruby Woo because I think that it COMPLIMENTS my skin tone very well. I also LOVE that red lipstick gives a certain SEXINESS and POP to EVERY WOMAN!!!!! Anyone who knows me will tell you that red lipstick is MY THING!!! I wore this color lipstick several times this week and it heightened the look and feel to every one of my outfits!!
This is why I LOVE the daytime talk show "THE REAL".........because they discuss NECESSARY REAL LIFE topics!!! I COMPLETELY agree with Adrienne's point to the MAX!!! The only thing that I would say contrary to her point is to know the challenges that come with dating/marrying someone who is 10 plus years your senior (I'll save this explanation for another blog)!!!! I have had this conversation with quite a few of my girlfriends who have easily gotten caught up in their "lists" and fantasies when sharing what they want in their future mates. I also ALWAYS use my love story as an example because my husband and I were not EACH OTHER'S TYPES!! Now if we would have stuck to our LISTS......we would probably be unhappily single! I too did not want to date or marry someone who had children......however, my husband has a son. Sidebar, good luck with dating someone who does not have children in this day and age!!!! I say all of this to say that the person who GOD truly has for us may not always match our lists of wants........however they will possess what we NEED in a partner! Those same girlfriends of mine who I was sharing this point with are still single, getting frustrated with the dating game, are ready to settle down, and some are feeling a bit hopeless when it comes to love. Now I am not shading them by any means.........what I am saying is that they may have to reset some of their filters!!! It can also become a SLIPPERY SLOPE when our lists are only comprised of superficial qualities and attributes that we want the other person to have!
It is also important for us to focus on what WE BRING TO THE TABLE and not just have EXPECTATIONS of what he or she is bringing to the relationship! I feel that it is also CRUCIAL for us to have experienced enough of life prior to marriage or getting into a committed relationship. Meaning, it is good to have experience living on your own so that you learn how and what it takes to take care of yourself as well as knowing who you are; and having a healthy sense of self!!!! If we are STRUGGLING with LOVING OURSELVES.......how can we be someone else's better half and have the ability to LOVE THEM HOW THEY NEED TO BE LOVED?????
You gotta love Tamera's blond moments!!!
